Join us for an exciting and immersive 2-hour workshop, where you'll discover the incredible world of handstands and develop the foundational strength to master this impressive skill.


This workshop is a collaboration between Melbourne Calisthenics premier Coach Alexander,, and Melbourne’s handstand expert Coach Eric, both long term industry experts in their fields.

Our workshop kicks off on Saturday, July 15th at 2:30pm, and we invite you to be part of this transformative experience. Over the course of 2 intensive hours, you'll dive into the fundamentals of handstand practice, unlocking the key principles and techniques necessary to begin practicing this movement safely and effectively on your own.

With a focus on providing you with practical and immediately useable skills, we'll guide you through a workshop-style format that combines theory and hands-on practice. You'll learn how to structure your handstand practice, perform exercises with proper form, and optimise your training to achieve your hand balancing goals.

What to expect

During the first hour, we'll dive into a series of dynamic calisthenics movements carefully designed to lay the groundwork for handstand success. You'll learn essential exercises that target your core and hips, upper body, including specifically straight arm strength for inversions, and overall body-strength, setting a solid foundation to progress towards the demanding work of handstands. With our guidance, you'll develop the necessary skills, strength, stability, and body awareness required for continued handstand practice.


In the second hour, we'll shift our focus to entry-level handstand practice, building upon the new strength skills learned in the initial session. Eric, our handstand expert, will share his extensive knowledge and guide you through proper hand placement, body alignment, and balance techniques and rills, with an aim to moving from the wall to the middle of the room as the session progresses. You'll receive personalised instruction, valuable tips, and specific drills to help you progress in your handstand journey.


Whether you're a beginner taking your first steps towards handstands or already have some experience and want to refine your technique, this workshop is tailored to accommodate the beginner entry levels of handstand practice. Our supportive and inclusive environment held in a dedicated handstand gym space ensures that you'll feel comfortable and motivated to explore your handstand potential.


By the end of the workshop, you'll not only have a solid understanding of the foundational handstand strength required, but you’ll also gain the confidence to continue your handstand practice independently.
